Our destiny lies in our own hands

I hope you had a good May and no matter where you are in the World, no matter what restrictions are still in place or are now eased or maybe have been lifted – I really hope you are safe and you are healthy and well.

I came across this old Hindu rhyme a few weeks ago which I wanted to share with you all. It reads:

“Sow a thought, Reap an action.
Sow an action, Reap a habit.
Sow a habit, Reap a characteristic.
Sow a characteristic, Reap a destiny.”

So from this, we can see our destiny really lies in our own hands. I thought this was a good point to ponder.

This really hit home as I spent most of April feeling pretty lousy. It started with a chest infection and then I just felt a bit groggy so I didn’t want to exercise nor feel like cooking healthy meals. I then felt lethargic from not eating well and not moving. This affected the quality of my sleep and so I woke up tired and felt groggy and this cycle kept repeating itself.

Maybe this sounds familiar?

It can be so hard to get out of these little cycles. But it all starts with a thought.

One day I thought, “I don’t want to feel like this”, so I started making the time to cook healthy meals. Only a small step, but at least it was trying to do something positive. This has now become a habit where I make the time to cook healthy, nutritious meals for me and my family as I know it has a positive knock on effect on our wellbeing. Once I took that first action, other things happened much more easily. I slept better which then meant I had the energy to exercise.

But this all started with one thought.

So I wanted to share this old Hindu rhyme in case this resonates with you.

Changes don’t have to be big. You can start small like I did.

But just one different thought can have such a wonderful, positive knock on effect.

  • International Yoga Day - June 21st is International Yoga Day! A day to celebrate yoga, to invest in our mental, physical and emotional wellbeing and connect with friends, family and communities over the shared practice of yoga.
    This year I will be holding free yoga classes either in person or online (depending on the latest advice regarding COVID) and anyone is welcome to attend. Keep an eye on the Yoga Three60 Facebook page for more information in the coming weeks and those who regularly come to my classes I will email you the details once they’re confirmed.
  • New Online Yoga Course – After the interest and number of people doing the online yoga course for beginners I have decided to launch a follow up yoga course, which will be suitable for those who have completed the beginners course or for people who have practiced yoga before. More information will be shared on the Facebook Page so keep an eye here or feel free to email me to register your interest and I will share more information with you in the next few weeks.
  • Yoga Retreats: Unfortunately I still don’t know if we will be able to go ahead with our September yoga retreat 18-20th September. I will hopefully be able to provide more of an update in the next few weeks as discussions around restrictions being lifted are announced. Keep an eye on the Yoga Three60 Instagram and Facebook accounts where updates will be shared.
  • Yoga Studio : One thing to come out of this lock down is working on our home yoga studio! My husband has done an amazing job in converting our garage into a studio and if you are interested in seeing the progress I post regular updates on the Yoga Three60 Instagram Accountand Yoga Three60 Facebook Page . The studio will be ready for business very soon!
  • You Tube – There are now over 100 videos on the Yoga Three60 You Tube Channel! All of the yoga videos are free and range from 5 minutes to 60 minutes long and include hatha yoga classes, pregnancy yoga, relaxations, pranayama (breathing practices) and mum & baby yoga too. To receive the latest yoga videos all you need to do is subscribe to the channel, which you can do by clicking here.
  • Pregnancy and Mum & Baby yoga videos: I have been busy recording these free videos for any pregnant women and new parents to do from home. You can find them on my You Tube Channel or you can join the Yoga Three60 Pregnancy & Baby Facebook Group to access these videos and be part of this online community. Please feel free to let any friends and family know about this too – the more the merrier.
