May: Rhythm. Repetition. RegularityMay: How are you?

How are you and how have you been this past month?

Everyone I speak to has been affected by what has been going on, albeit in very different ways and I have no idea what April has been like for you.  But I really do hope that you are healthy, you and your loved ones are well and that you are doing ok.

At uncertain times like this it can be hard to find a sense of normality.  But I am reminded of something I learnt in my Yoga Teacher Training; the three R’s:

Rhythm.  Repetition.  Regularity.

This is referring to yoga and keeping a regular yoga practice, repeating certain elements of this every time (starting and closing with a mantra, doing the jattis we practice in class etc) and keeping that rhythm going, no matter what is going on.

But I think this is something we can relate to in a lot of different areas of our life and especially at the moment.  I talk about the importance of keeping a routine quite a lot (here is a short video I shared recently on this topic) and if we can keep that regularity going in our life it can help to bring some normality to what is obviously a very unusual time and situation for us all.

I appreciate this isn’t always easy.  If you normally took your children to school and started work, you can’t do that now.  But if you always got up at 6am to perhaps do some exercise before getting ready for the day, trying to keep to that rather than getting up at 7.30am can help to keep your body and mind in that same routine.  Equally if you normally go to bed by 10pm, try to stick to that where possible to keep that rhythm going to let you mind and body get the rest it needs at the moment.

Perhaps there are other areas of your life you think could benefit from the 3 R’s?

How you structure your day.

How you care for your children and provide them with the 3 R’s.

How you can work remotely.

Your exercise.

The times of the day you eat.

Your yoga practice.

How much news or TV you watch.

Keeping in contact with loved ones.

We are being provided with an opportunity to learn some new ways of living and there are so many ways we can bring the 3 R’s into our life to help to bring balance, prevent overwhelm and create a sense of normality.

I do hope this is useful and as with April’s newsletter I wanted to use this as an opportunity to hopefully provide a little help in these uncertain times.  Yoga, relaxation, mindfulness can all help us in so many ways so below are some more free yoga videos which you can practice at home and don’t forget you can access all of these videos by subscribing to the Yoga Three60 You Tube Channel as well.

Pranayama videos – these breathing practices are great ways to help quieten the mind and invite some peace and relaxation to our lives.

10 Minutes or less playlist - with 20 different yoga videos you can do at home, all under 10 minutes long.

Yoga for the shoulders and neck – we tend to hold on to stress and worries in the shoulders and neck area so this yoga video works on trying to relieve some of these tensions.

I think that is it for May.  I do just want to say a word of “thanks” again.  For the words and acts of kindness, support and love.  It is always appreciated and we feel extremely blessed, so thank you.

Below is some other news to keep you updated on what is going on and it just leaves me to wish you health, happiness and love.  Look after yourselves, stay connected and stay safe.

With loving kindness,

In other news:

  • Pregnancy and Mum & Baby yoga videos: I have been busy recording these free videos for any pregnant women and new parents to do from home.  You can find them on my You Tube Channel or you can join the Yoga Three60 Pregnancy & Baby Facebook Group to access these videos and be part of this online community.  Please feel free to let any friends and family know about this too – the more the merrier.
  • Online Yoga Course – We began our online yoga course in April and are now 3 weeks into the course.  It is so wonderful to be able to offer yoga classes to more people and with one person practicing all the way over in Australia!  Brilliant!  I have been asked if I may offer another course once this one has finished, so I’ll keep you updated on the plans with this.
  • Yoga Retreats: I still don’t know if we will be able to go ahead with our September yoga retreat 18-20th September but I will hopefully be able to provide more of an update next month.
  • Coaching: It has been such a joy to still be able to work with my clients using the wonderful technology of zoom and skype!  It was lovely to receive this feedback from one of my clients last month and as normally happens, people come to me wanting to discuss one area and we end up covering a lot more.  If you’d like to find out more about what coaching is and how it can help you please do get in touch and I’d be delighted to tell you more.
  • Yoga Studio: One thing to come out of this lock down is working on our home yoga studio!  My husband has done an amazing job in converting our garage into a studio and if you are interested in seeing the progress I post regular updates on the Yoga Three60 Instagram Account and Yoga Three60 Facebook Page.  We are getting there and I cannot wait to be able to share this space with you all soon!
