October Newsletter: Going For It

This month we are talking about going for it! Coming out of our shells, believing in ourselves and just GOING FOR IT!

Have you had something you have wanted to start, try, do but have put it off?  Maybe for good reason.  Or maybe not. 

We will always find reasons to not do something, especially things which may challenge us.  Sometimes this is good and when we listen to our gut we realise it was the right decision to not pursue that option or challenge.

However, every day we are faced with opportunities to explore and yet we let a lot of them pass us by.

This can range from things such as wanting to get fit and going for a run but then believing as we haven’t got the ‘right’ running gear, we can’t possibly do this.

Or wanting to learn a new skill, but telling ourselves we are too old, too busy, too (fill in the blank) to do this.

Perhaps having a hobby we’d love to turn into a business and rather than think how we could make this a reality, we only list the barriers and reasons it can’t work.

I have just come back from our yoga retreat and was surrounded by so many inspiring, determined, supportive people who all had a story to share.  One thing which really stood out for me was how everyone has gone for it in some aspect of their life.  Whether a new career, a big life decision or making brave family choices.  

Of course, it isn’t always easy to just ‘go for it’ and there are of course many factors to consider with any decision you make.  But this needn’t be big.  You can start small.

If you wanted to join a local exercise class but feared you wouldn’t be fit enough – just try it.  You don’t know until you try.

If you’ve wanted to try yoga but think you need to be flexible; this isn’t the case.  Go to a gentle yoga class or try one of these videos (link to yoga three60 you tube channel) and see how you get on.

If you’ve wanted to learn to cook some new dishes, find some recipes and give it a go. 

What’s the worse that happens?  Either it works out or it doesn’t.  That’s life.   We dust ourselves off and try something else.

So let’s not live from a place of fear.  Let’s not over think things.

Yoga Retreat

We had our Yoga Retreat last month and what a wonderful weekend it was at the beautiful Penpont in the Brecon Beacons, Wales.

We were lucky enough to have the sun shining all weekend which meant yoga on the lawn, relaxing outside, going wild swimming and eating delicious food al fresco.

Here is a video of the weekend. I cannot wait for the next retreat in January 2020 now!

New Thursday Yoga Classes

I will be starting a new Thursday evening beginners yoga class at Breathe Spaces in Penylan, Cardiff. 
The 10-week course starts 10th October at the moment I have a few spaces left.  More information can be found here, but if you’d like to find out more or want to book one of the last spaces please get in touch.

I am not sure if you saw this BBC article highlighting the important of muscle-strengthening exercises for adults to help them stay active for longer and protect against obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease and depression. 

A good read I wanted to share and great to see awareness being brought to the importance of exercise and highlighting different options suitable for babies through to our older years.
