October: The Gift Of Covid

The Gift of CovidHi, how are you?

As I write this we have just had a new announcement about Covid19 and new restrictions being put in place around face masks and the number of people we can meet with.  I am sure by the time this newsletter comes out there will have been more announcements.   I’m not going to lie, at first when I heard the latest restrictions I felt disheartened, frustrated, disappointed – I pretty much felt a lot of negative emotions.

I think this was on top of an already crazy week with my eldest starting big boy school and me trying to start up face to face yoga classes within the current climate of constantly changing regulations to adhere to.


I remembered something I’d written down a few months ago by a fantastic lady called Jenny Burrell and this has helped get me off the pity train and into a much more positive place. 

Jenny talked about Covid being a blessing. 

Of course not everything has been a blessing and I completely understand and appreciate this.  Some have lost people they love, some have lost jobs, others had to sacrifice things they had planned – the list can go on.  Covid has affected ALL OF US, albeit in different ways.

However what Covid has gifted us is an interruption to our lives.  It has given us the opportunity to look at our lives and question things.  Am I happy?  Do I have joy in my life?  Am I where I want to be?  Am I bringing joy to other people?  Do I have a purpose?  Am I reaching my potential?  Is this what I want to be doing?  Am I passionate about what I do?  Do I spend time with the people I want to spend time with?

I am not exempt from this and have spent the last 5 months asking these questions.  And my answers to some of these questions have been interesting and shone a light on areas I want to work on, to change, to adapt, to improve. 

Jenny also talks about letting go of the promises we have outgrown.  Just because we said a year ago or 10 years ago we were going to be this, or do that.  It doesn’t mean we need to.

We can let go of the promises we have outgrown.

That’s right, let go of the promises you have outgrown.

Wow!  That struck a chord with me.

I genuinely believe Covid has been a gift and it has made me reflect on my life and my businesses too.  As such there are going to be some changes in my offering, direction and services which I am currently working through and will hopefully be able to expand on more next month. 

The time feels right to look inward and see how I can bring my skills, qualifications, background and passions together to best serve you.  Wellbeing has never been so important and I want to do all I can to support my current and hopefully new customers with their overall wellbeing.


So this is what I have been able to realise from the last 5 months.

I also thought I’d share below a recent video I made showing my morning yoga routine which I do each day.  Yoga is a massive part of my life for so many reasons and I find practicing yoga first thing really sets me up for the day and helps me deal with the everyday stresses we all endure.  So I wanted to share this with you so you can get some ideas for your own practice, or you can practice with me to hopefully set you up for the day too.
